Circumcision
Dr. Gottesman recommends that babies be fed one hour before the procedure is to take place so they are not irritable because they are hungry. He welcomes parents to be present during the procedure, both during the administration of the anesthetic and the actual performance of the circumcision.
Written instructions for care of the circumcision are provided to the parents and in addition, Dr. Gottesman makes a phone call 24 hours later to follow up on the infant’s wellbeing. He is also available by phone if parents have questions following the circumcision procedure.
Dr. Gottesman will perform circumcisions on newborns up until 3 months of age.
