Performing newborn circumcisions was an integral part of Dr. Gottesman’s training. During his subsequent 33 years of full-time practice as an OB-GYN, he has performed over 4,000 circumcisions.
Dr. Gottesman uses the Mogen clamp technique. He first administers a local anesthetic injection and waits between five to seven minutes to make sure the anesthetic has taken hold. The actual circumcision procedure takes less than five minutes. Dr. Gottesman performs only newborn circumcisions.
